The University of Western Australia scholarships for international students
The University of Western Australia (UWA) is a public research university in the Australian state of Western Australia. The university’s main campus is in Perth, the state capital. UWA came into being in 1911 by an act of the Parliament of Western Australia. It ranks #72 in the QS World University Rankings 2024. It ranks #83 in Best Global Universities. The Times Higher Education 2023 Impact Rankings gave Western a near-perfect score of 95.8 out of 100 and ranked the university ninth in the world overall among more than 1,700 universities.
UWA offers many scholarships that allow our students to complete their courses by improving their financial situation. The Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship provides 10 successful students with a one-off $50,000 scholarship towards their course fees and other university costs.
UWA INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARD
UWA’s International Student Award is a fee reduction of $5000 per year for students from a range of select countries. The Award helps foster a diverse student community and enables more students from different nationalities to pursue their study and career goals with UWA.

Eligibility
To be eligible to be considered for the scholarship, candidates must
(a) meet the eligibility criteria specified (Eligible Courses) (Eligible Citizenship)
- Eligible undergraduate courses include all undergraduate bachelor pass, bachelor honours (integrated), or bachelor double degree courses offered by the University.
- Notwithstanding an application into an undergraduate degree course at the University, a candidate is not eligible for the scholarship if their offer of a place includes, or is amended to include, an assured pathway into:
- Doctor of Medicine (90850)
- Doctor of Dental Medicine (90860)

Dr Merab Tauman Memorial Scholarship in Economics
The late Dr Merab Tauman bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia (‘the University’) to provide a scholarship to support high-achieving students undertaking their third year of undergraduate study with a major in Economics.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, an applicant must
- have completed at least 96 points towards an undergraduate degree course; and
- be studyingfull-time unless the selection body is satisfied that there are exceptional circumstances
- which preclude full-time enrolment; and
- in an undergraduate degree course with a major in Economics.

Criteria for continuation
The recipient must
- remain enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree course with a major in Economics unless there are exceptional circumstances1 which preclude full-time enrolment;
- make satisfactory progress in accordance with the rules for the course for which the scholarship is awarded; and
- confirm twice annually, in the manner and by the dates specified by the University, that they continue to meet the eligibility requirements of the scholarship.
