Research Training Program international (RTPi) Scholarships
Research Training Program International (RTPi) Scholarships are funded by the Australian Government and awarded to international students based on academic merit and research potential. These scholarships include a stipend (living allowance) and a fee offset for a limited time.
Value
The total stipend is at least $32,500 per annum 2023 stipend rate) paid fortnightly over a maximum of 3 years for PhD students and over a maximum of 2 years for Master of Research students. The total fee waiver is for a maximum of 3 years for Ph.D. students and a maximum of 2 years for Master of Research students. This scholarship includes Overseas Student Health Cover (Singles Cover) with UniSA’s preferred provider, BUPA, where the successful applicant requires a student visa. A thesis allowance is available. Enterprise Research Scholarship (ERS)
Enterprise Research Scholarships (ERS) are funded by the University and our partners and are awarded to international students based on academic merit and research potential.
These scholarships include a stipend (living allowance) and a fee offset for a limited time.
Value
The total stipend is at least $32,500 per annum (2023 stipend rate), paid fortnightly over a maximum of 3 years for PhD students and over a maximum of 2 years for Master of Research students. The total fee waiver is for a maximum of 4 years for PhD students and two years for Master of Research students. This scholarship includes Overseas Student Health coverage with UniSA’s preferred provider, BUPA, where the successful applicant requires a student visa. A thesis allowance is available. International Research Tuition Scholarship (IRTS)
International Research Tuition Scholarships (IRTS) are awarded to international students based on academic merit and demonstrated research capability. They will be supported during their degree by a full living stipend supported by external funding, e.g., a recognized sponsor or external scholarship awarding body.
Value
The IRTS total fee waiver is for a maximum of 4 years for Ph.D. students and two years for Master of Research students. This scholarship does not include overseas student health cover or a student visa condition, and applicants are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate cover for themselves and their families where applicable.
Eligibility
In addition to meeting UniSA’s, applicants eligibility criteria be:
- Commencing international research degree students
- High quality with demonstrated research capability, as assessed by UniSA
- Be supported by a robust supervisory panel(with an end-user adviser on the supervisory panel, where appropriate), and be enrolled in a research-rich environment
- In receipt of (or been awarded) a fully externally funded stipend scholarship or a living stipend supported by external funding*.
Note: the living stipend needs to be in the form of an externally funded scholarship administered through the University or in agreement with an industry partner, sponsorship body, or organization.
How to apply
International students with an external sponsorship or scholarship can apply for any listed projects.Some applicants may have additional conditions stipulated by their sponsorship or scholarship provider, and may need to develop their own project with a UniSA supervisor.
