International Excellence Scholarship
The JCU International Excellence Scholarship provides a 25% tuition fee reduction throughout the entire duration of approved full degree study programs, provided recipients maintain a strong GPA each semester.
Scholarship eligibility is automatically assessed during the JCU admissions process. Eligible candidates will receive an offer for their program of study and the International Excellence Scholarship concurrently.

Eligibility
The International Excellence Scholarship is for eligible high achieving students from the United States, Canada, Latin America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Papua New Guinea, Nigeria, Ghana and Middle East.
Australia Awards students and SACM students and all other government scholarships/sponsorships covering full tuition fees, international students transferring from joint programs, and study abroad and exchange students are not eligible.
Applicants must:
- be an international student, commencing studying at JCU for the first time
- be commencing study as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student
- not be enrolling in Diplomas, End-on Honours degrees, Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas or online and non-award programs
- not be enrolling via a JCU partnership are not be eligible for this scholarship and should refer to the JCU Partners scholarship
- if commencing an Undergraduate degree, demonstrate an ATAR of 65 (or equivalent)
- if commencing a Postgraduate degree, demonstrate 65% or above achievement where 50% is a pass mark of the student’s relevant qualification.

International Merit Stipend
The JCU International Merit Stipend provides fortnightly payments of A$400 to assist with expenses throughout study at JCU, providing a strong GPA is maintained.

International On-Campus Accommodation Grant
This scholarship aims to support international full-degree students living and studying at JCU’s Cairns Nguma-bada campus.
Recipients will be passionate about, and interested in, leading on-campus activities during their time at JCU.

Eligibility
The International On Campus Accommodation Grant will be open to competition among candidates who:
- Are an International student;
- Are Commencing study in 2024; and
- Are studying full-time (min 9 credit points) in an Undergraduate degree or Postgraduate coursework; and
- I have applied or received an offer to live at the John Grey Hall Accommodation in Cairns, Nguma-bada campus.
What to receive?
If you are a successful applicant of this grant you will receive $3,700 as a once-off payment after the census date of Study Period 1, 2024. Please allow up to 6 weeks after the census date for payment.
Selection Criteria
The assessment of the applicants will depend on the following critical selection criteria:
- Participation in social/sporting clubs, forums, competitions, arts, cultural or religious activities, etc; (30%)
- Organizational experience; (15%)
- Leadership capacity/experience (15%)
