Following are the James Cook University PHD scholarship details:
HDR Scholarships for International Candidates
Applications for 2024 HDR scholarships for International Candidates are now CLOSED.
- HDR scholarships do not include overseas health coverage or relocation expenses.
- International applicants must pay for health coverage before applying for a student visa. Overseas health cover for a single person undertaking a PhD is a one-off upfront payment of $4,140 and, if accompanied by your partner or family, is $15,162 and $23,413, respectively (as of June 2023).
- International applicants should also understand living costs and other expenses in Australia.
- When applying, applicants will be considered for all applications for which they are eligible.
International Research Training Program Scholarship

Postgraduate Research Scholarship
| Citizenship | International Students(excluding JCUS based) |
| Must commence | 1 January to 31 May 2024 |
| Inclusions | Living allowance stipend $33,500pa in 2023, tuition fees. |
| Duration: | 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil |
| Exclusions | Overseas health cover, relocation expenses, Student Services and Amenities Fee. a |
JCU Singapore Postgraduate Research Scholarship
| Citizenship | International Students |
| Must commence | 1 January to 31 May 2024 |
| Inclusions | Living allowance stipend SGD$31,000 pa, and/or tuition fees. |
| Duration | 3.5 years for PhD, 2 years for MPhil |
| Requirements | Must have a Primary Advisor based at JCUS and be based in Singapore for at least the first year of candidature. |
| Exclusions | Overseas health coverage, relocation expenses, Student Services, and Amenities Fee. |
