Benefits

The scholarship includes:

  1. a stipend valued at $40,000 per annum tax free – Proposer to identify stipend value
  2. The scholarship will be for up to 3.5 years
  3. a Research Training Program Fee Offset Scholarship to cover tuition fees for Australian Citizens, NZ Citizens and Permanent Residents

Eligibility

To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must:

  1. Be an Australian citizen; or New Zealand citizen; or have been granted permanent resident status or be an International student;
  2. meet PhD admission requirements including: have an Australian Honours degree Class 1 or 2A or equivalent qualification (at least AQF Level 8), including a research component of at least 6 months’ full-time study achieving Distinction (75%) OR including evidence of equivalent research experience, such as a substantial first-author refereed publication or track record as an investigator on a competitive grant; and
  3. be available to commence as a full-time PhD student at Flinders University in semester 2, 2023

Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarship (International)

Description

The Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships (AGRTPS) (International) specifically intends to support international students to undertake a Higher Degree by research at Flinders University. The AGRTPS includes an international tuition fee offset, a living stipend, and Overseas Health Care coverage.

Please note: For visa purposes, the AGRTPS is a Commonwealth Sponsored Scholarship.

A limited number (up to 6) of AGRTPS are available each year and the scholarship round is highly competitive.

Eligibility

Awards will only be available to those who:

  1. Are a citizen of any overseas country except New Zealand, and do not hold Australian citizenship, Australian permanent resident status or New Zealand citizenship; and
  2. Intend to commence full-time study for a higher degree by research in Australia for the first time, in the year for which the award is to offered. Students who commenced their higher degree by research in the previous year but who, due to the timing of their application for admission and subsequent enrolment, were unable to apply for an AGRTPS in that year, or, commenced a higher degree by research and terminated that enrolment within six months of commencement, may be considered; and
  3. Intend to enrol in an area of research concentration. These are areas in which the University has particular strength, has concentrated its research resources and has attracted external funding
