ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarships
These scholarships are designed to support postgraduate students of outstanding research and promise to undertake a higher degree by research at ECU. The scholarships are offered based on academic merit and research performance. Successful applicants will be awarded either the ECU Higher Degree by Research Scholarship or the RTP Stipend Scholarship. These scholarships include tuition fee sponsorship and a stipend of $33,000 per annum paid fortnightly via electronic funds transfer. Other benefits include a relocation allowance for domestic students (where applicable). Moreover, overseas Student Health Cover for International students (where applicable). The duration of the scholarship is up to 3 years full-time for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Also, up to 2 years full-time for Master by Research.

Eligibility guidelines
To be eligible applicants must have met the minimum requirement below:
- Have been made an unconditional offer of a place in an ECU Higher Degree by PhD, Integrated PhD research course or Master by Research
*If you have submitted an application for course entry and have not yet been issued an offer you can apply for this scholarship and your application will be assessed subject to you receiving an unconditional course offer by the scholarship closing date of the 18th of October 2023.
You are not eligible to apply for these scholarships if any of the below apply:
- Firstly, you have received an Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) or an Australia Award scholarship within the last two years.
- Additionally, if your commencement date for the Doctor of Philosophy is after 10/05/2024.
- If your commencement period for Masters by Research is after Semester 1, 2024.
Moreover, you are not eligible to be considered for the RTP Stipend scholarship if you receive an income that is greater than 75% of the 2023 RTP base stipend rate ($33,000) under the RTP Conditions of Award.
