In Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, there is a popular government research institution, the University of Regina. It was established in 1911 as a private denominational high school of the Methodist Church of Canada. In 1925, it started a relationship with the University of Saskatchewan as a junior college. In 1934, it was entirely given to the university after being disaffiliated from the church. As the University of Saskatchewan’s Regina Campus, it started awarding degrees in 1961. In 1974, it attained university autonomy.

The university has over 15,000 full- and part-time students. The Carillon, the university’s student newspaper, is part of CUP.In addition to its three federated colleges, Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College, the U of R contains ten faculties, twenty-five academic departments and schools, and ten research centers.
