About University
In Sackville, New Brunswick, Mount Allison University, usually known as Mount A or MtA, is a largely undergraduate liberal arts university that came into existence in Canada in 1839. According to its endowment per student, Mount Allison is one of the richest universities in Canada. It has the largest endowment fund per student in Canada out of the 69 universities that reported on endowment funds on a national level. The university’s campus is stunning and covers 76 acres. More than 2000 students from more than 50 different countries call the campus home. All full- and part-time students at the university are represented by a student organization called the Mount Allison Students’ Union. In addition, the university publishes The Argosy, an independent campus newspaper among the nation’s oldest student publications. The institution is credited as being the first in the British Empire to award a woman with a bachelor’s degree. James B. Sumner, who later received the Nobel Prize in chemistry, formerly served as a teaching fellow at the university.
University ranking:
The MAU world ranking is impressive as it comes in the 1675 position among the best 2000 universities in the world. In addition, the Canada ranking is also excellent, coming in at number 48th. Also, Mount Allison, like most liberal arts universities in North America, does not take part in surveys that are primarily focused on research, like Mount Allison University QS ranking. Another plus is the Mount Allison University acceptance rate of 70%.
